The flood of images around us and finally also in our heads gives insights into the soul life of individuals but does not allow us to see the essential. Does the conglomerate of images depict the truth, the real thing, or is it only a mirror, a distorting mirror, maybe only a spectacle of the showing individual.How can we get involved with what is shown, with the apparent density of information, how can we decide how to perceive things? Sometimes we have no choice, and we have to accept the apparent as the truth, the reality or the image of it.
about the photographer
Thom Trauner was born in the sixties in Wels, Upper Austria. In 1979 he started an apprenticeship as a lithographer and worked in the printing industry and as a graphic designer. In the early seventies his father gave him his first camera. He was fascinated by the moment when a picture is created in the darkroom, a picture that previously existed only in memory. He is a enthusiastic portrait and wedding photographer for several years now and have been awarded with the national prize for professional photographers. Since twenty years he lives with his wife Ute in the beautiful Salzkammergut, Upper Austria.back to gallery
