entry description
This picture is a part of a bigger project "Our contemporary saints". In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, painters looked for models for their paintings, both among nobles and ordinary people met on the street, at a market or in a church. Pictures painted at that time referred mainly to religious themes and that is why the saints have the faces of bakers, traders, servants and princes on them. In my project I decided to use a similar method - my saints are the people we can meet on the streets of today's cities. If Leonardo da Vinci had painted his paintings in the 21st century, such faces would have been seen in his paintings by contemporary saints.back to gallery
