entry description
I shot the series around Africa, in a 5-year period. The pictures try to catch a glimpse of the children's life, their smiles and, somehow, their inner soul. To me these faces are the only way to give back what I feel in Africa, through this series I can hold on to a sense of closeness with these children.about the photographer
Piermario Palattella, dentist in service at the G. Eastman hospital of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome, has undertaken a voluntary health service since 2010 that has led him six times to Africa in four different states Central African Republic, Tanzania, Togo and Madagscar. As a young photography enthusiast Piermario rediscovers his love for the camera during these trips in the rare moments stolen from medical activities, trying to capture the universe enclosed in the eyes of the children he immortalizes in the rapidity of a single instant. All this with a “light” black and white approach aimed at making an otherwise difficult and painful theme enjoyable and luminous.back to gallery
