Canary Wharf after dark
Once home to container ships and tenements, Canary Wharf has been transformed into one of London’s most sought-after financial districts. The juxtaposition of money and history makes this corner of Tower Hamlets shimmer with creative inspiration for photographers and artists.
Now, it is home to some of the world’s richest companies and exclusive residential properties and when combined with the exclusive occupants and the beautiful lighting that bathes the entire area, it’s the perfect setting for low-light photography.
For the past ten years I have been shooting street photography in a number of different locations. Initially in London in Borough Market and moving onto low light portraits on the London Underground. I moved to Edinburgh and expanded my low light work at an underground car park in Edinburgh City Centre where they held a car boot sale every week. Moving back to London I spend a year shooting the public pianos in St Pancras International Station as well as work for Electronic Sound Magazine taking pictures of artists including Gary Numan. I spent 2016 in New York and created a project called 'Spotlight' which was a finalist in the 2016 Lensculture Street Photography Awards. Now back in London I have created projects at Wimbledon Dog Racing, Billingsgate Fish Market and most recently Canary Wharf.
