Christos Sousounis greece
title
Sun Catch
I live in Greece, a land blessed with plenty of sunshine. I’m drawn by the reflection of the sun on specular and glossy surfaces and especially by the way it “dances” on the evermoving surface of the sea. The sun is scattered in multiple glistening points and being playful with the waves and the land too. These reflections are mostly elusive, ever changing and too bright for the human eye, but the camera can “freeze” and capture them.
During 1987-1994 worked as a professional covering mainly weddings and social events, shooting both photo and video. Also, he experimented with lithographic film and did some personal photo work in black/white and color. Major influences include Andre Kertesz, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Brett Weston as well as certain aspects of the Bauhaus aesthetic.
From 1995 to 2010 worked on video post-production, doing motion graphics, animation and effects. These years helped him recognize the power of post-capture processing as a tool. Most of this period he did photography occasionally.
In 2008 Christos realized that his passion was still (pun intended) photography, for his personal expression as well as creative pleasure. Since then he gives a lot of his time and works consciously on this deep calling.
