Up to you Mum
Cheetahs (Acinonux jubatus) are large cats native to Africa and central Iran. It is the fastest land animal and is capable of speeds around 100 km/h. It has several body adaptions to speed; light build, long thin legs and a long tail which is important for balance.
Male cheetahs are territorial, and group together for life, forming coalitions that defend a territory which ensure maximum access to females. Female cheetahs tend to lead a solitary life or live with offspring in undefended home ranges. They raise their cubs alone and the cubs lives totally depend on the hunting ability of their mother. I feel this is summed up in this image where one cub is looking up to its mother with the silent question asking what is next for their collective lives.
Graeme retired to Penang Island in Malaysia in 2011 with his wife Helen where he had more time for nature photography.
