THE DARK PRINCE
On our way back we spotted a group of lionesses with their cubs sharing a family lunch with antelope on the menu. We went off road and stopped at about 20 meters from them. I went out of the car, trying to isolate my subject and I stared at this young male, eye to eye, to capture the darkness inside him. He reminded me of Scar in The Lion King. The effect of the rain on his fur gives the image an incredible dramatic purpose.
It was a really tough day in the bush but it was all worth it, for that shot…

entry description
An insane tropical storm started at about 3am that day. It was impossible to sleep as the noise was way too loud (plus a few elephants were crossing through the camp as well). We went to have breakfast at around 6am and my guide, « Papa », asked me if I wanted to stay at the camp for the day because of the bad weather. I said « hell no »! So we went out but the roads were almost impracticable… We got stuck in the mud for a long hour and when we finally managed to get out, we saw some other cars that got stuck as well. We stopped to help them, which took another 2 hours under the rain. We were exhausted and decided to get back to the camp.On our way back we spotted a group of lionesses with their cubs sharing a family lunch with antelope on the menu.
