This still life is part of an ongoing serie in the Dutch visual language of the Golden Age. I am fascinated by the classical still life, which appears as a window onto another world full of lush food and flowers.Beside these aesthetically placed objects there is a slice of life narrative where people just left the room and the birds take their chance and inspect the seasonal banquet, giving the image a just-walked-in quality.

Hester Blankestijn studied photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. Since 1999 she worked as a professional commercial photographer for different clients.Next to that she is a national selling still life fine art photographer. Combining her love for the Duch historical visual language with her passion for birds and nature into dense artworks where there is lot's to see.
