This series of photographs are inspired by wine making process using nuruk, a natural yeast, used in the making magolie, a traditional Korean rice wine. To me, the fermentation process of nuruk is a metaphor of that first chemical reaction eons ago from which life began; a simple chemical reaction from which something new is created.

entry description
It is said that the first life began as a result of a random chemical reaction eons ago. From this chance happenstance, all living things, from the simple amoeba to human beings, attribute its existence. From that beginning, the Earth has experienced eras of growth and decline, abundance and extinction. We are now facing another potential extinction period, we as human being should look humbly to each other given the short time remaining. This series of photographs are inspired by wine making process using nuruk, a natural yeast, used in the making magolie, a traditional Korean rice wine. To me, the fermentation process of nuruk is a metaphor of that first chemical reaction eons ago from which life began; a simple chemical reaction from which something new is created.
about the photographer
