Women in Sport
Sport is for everyone.
Doyle has always enjoyed sport, whether watching or partaking, so the combination of her two passions, photography and sport, made perfect sense. ‘Sport is for everyone’ is a key element of Doyle’s ‘Women in Sport’ photographic project. These photographs aim to raise awareness of problems faced by women in sport and to portray the passion and tenacity they have for their specialisms.

entry description
7 out of 10 young girls feel they don’t belong in sports, with 50% dropping out when they hit puberty (Always, 2021). This then affects the number of women who participate in sports as adults, both professionally and leisurely. Through personal experience and working alongside sports women, it’s clear to see women are subjected to objectification, criticism and gender stereotypes within all sports, at every level. My photographs not only aim to raise awareness to the problems faced by women in sport, but also show the passion and tenacity women have for their specialisms. This project is ongoing and aims to encourage women of all ages, skills levels and activities to participate in sport.Sport is for everyone.
