I enjoy contemporary architecture and was reading about preliminary sketches and work ups of design. They are back of napkin type sketches (literally in the case of Renzo Piano and his idea for Londons' Shard) - Zaha Hadid created beautiful flowing abstract compositions - Frank Gehry's are to be seen to be believed, the Disney Concert Hall in LA and the Guggenheim seem to involve a spider on acid. But it gave me the idea to try and show building sketches with a progression towards a more solid design and filled in sketch. I initially introduce the informal nature of the process by mimicking coffee cup stains and random lines and these became a sort of visual connection device.back to gallery
