“Abstritti” focuses on the infinite and cyclical nature of being. The title was derived by combining the words “abstract”, “street”, and “graffiti”. The photographs in the series are of subjects such as old walls, rusted containers, and dilapidated signs. Color and light were used to define the elements in each photograph after which compositional alterations were made so as to more fully express the unending and paradoxical duality of creation and destruction – a paradox in which can be found both connection and acceptance.about the photographer
Sam Rittenberg lives and works in New York City and the Dominican Republic. His primary interest is in a photograph's power to convey the infinite and paradoxical nature of being. He is guided by the idea that every picture has the potential to be a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us.back to gallery
