entry description
The Sonoran Desert covers northern parts of Mexico as well as southern parts of the United States. Despite it being the hottest desert of both countries it provides two seasons of rainfall what distinguishes it from other deserts. The dunes of the desert are constantly changing their form and casting dominant shadows in the early morning light which can look like abstract patterns or body shaped forms. All pictures were taken from a light aircraft at over 1km altitude.
about the photographer
My priority in landscape photography is the place itself, rather than the perfect light or conditions. I take places as nature presents them to me. Over time, aerial photography has become an important part of my work as the change in perspective can transform the most inconspicuous landscapes to abstract patterns that invite to guess what you are actually looking at. Most of my work is project based, so I am using whatever camera and medium fits best to the project. That means my aerial photography is produced mostly with digital full frame cameras while black and white film photography has become my preference for classical landscape photography.back to gallery
