The new expressway was completed for the 1964 Olympic Games.
It concealed the old bridge, it obstructed the view of Mount Fuji, and citizens recently petitioned the government to move the expressway underground.
It was approved, the construction began to be completed by 2041. The old Edo Bridge will reveal its former glory.
The contrast of old and new was undeniable. The stillness of water was an ideal surface for reflections of columns, surrounding buildings, and the bridges themselves.
This is how it looks now.
