In my work, I tried to apprehend the feeling of an escapism in the modern reality. I see the future world as a place, where the whole planet is covered in giant anthill-like living buildings so dense, that it is impossible to live a normal life there, and you can only «survive». The hero of this work is a lone person, who tries to escape into the unknown and vast sea to find some kind of hope there.
His main goal is to see beyond the ordinary and find meanings in small details that are always around us.

entry description
This photo shows a person who is sailing in front of the construction of a new district of St. Petersburg. It is being built in the Gulf of Finland using the Land reclamation technique. A lot of people are protesting against this construction, as it would harm the ecology and destroy the last public beach inside St. Petersburg. However, corrupted government and greedy development companies do not care about people’s opinion. So the only form of protest which is left for the people is a getaway, to escape this depraved world. In my work, I tried to apprehend the feeling of an escapism in the modern reality.
