CLAUDIA BERTOU france
title
Amabilia
Claudia Bertou, Venezuelan, trained as a photographer in Caracas in the 2000s, then made documentary reports in her country. She emigrated to France in 2018 and settled in Nantes in 2019 where she decided to resume her photographic activity and create her own photo studio.
Her artistic approach is oriented towards images where the chiaroscuro emerges and is expressed in an artistic way, where time oscillates between classic and contemporary. The decorative elements, old or natural, however small, occupy an important place in the composition. She gives fleeting ideas as much importance as deeper reflections in her creative process. The scenes transport the viewer into a classical, feminine and partly exotic universe integrating elements such as plants and flowers, a colorful nature skilfully orchestrated in baroque compositions, with satin fabrics, bright colors, polished images, time seems suspended. Claudia Bertou's universe shows her attachment to her Caribbean roots in a meticulous work.
My work is very inspired by ancien painting and in particular the way light and shadows are used giving the image a timeless touch. In these chiaroscuros, time seems suspended between classical art and contemporary art.
I pay attention to detail, I like to emphasize certain colors such as reds, greens and blues which complement and harmonize with each other. On the other hand, I like to recreate compositions of very simple and basic shapes where I want to express precisely the beauty in this simplicity. I am used to adding touches of nature in my work, inspired by my Caribbean roots where the vegetation is exuberant and the colors are saturated and illuminated.
I try to witness a poetic expression in each of my images, producing an aesthetic effect.

about the photographer
Born in Caracas (Venezuela), I have been living in France since 2018. After studying graphic design, I discovered photography during my first professional activity in tourism. This job offers me the opportunity to discover the splendid natural and tropical landscapes of my country. I then decided to continue my studies at the Monteavila University of Caracas where I obtained the diploma in Photographic Arts and Techniques. I then perfected my training in privates schools of photography. My work is very inspired by ancien painting and in particular the way light and shadows are used giving the image a timeless touch. In these chiaroscuros, time seems suspended between classical art and contemporary art.
