Dry
The landscape’s unexpected and constant changes serve as a metaphor to life’s unknown and the twist and quickly life can change. Experiencing the balance between light and darkness, and the smoothness against the rough edges presents us with a dilemma of which path to follow. At the same time, the simplicity of just being in these remote environments can provide a sense of calm not found anywhere else.

entry description
Dry is an examination of how our environment and experiences have shaped our being down to our most primitive beliefs. Photography has the power to connect the landscape to our emotions in powerful ways. Exploring vast landscapes and mountains provide us with a sense of inspiration and awe, and the rugged peaks allow us to tap into our strengths and dream of what we could be, or where we could go. Conversely, the desert can cause us to examine ourselves for who we are and where our life is going. They make us pause and wonder if we really know ourselves and our limits. The landscape’s unexpected and constant changes serve as a metaphor to life’s unknown and the twist and quickly life can change. about the photographer
Greg Piazza is a self taught painter and photographer based in Dallas, Texas who began painting after a car accident took his brothers life in 2004. Emoting on the canvas and through the camera lens, Piazza leapt into the art scene where his work received much attention and interest in his minimalism. His works resemble simple lines and color forms, some based on southwest landscapes and pure form leaving the viewer to interpret.back to gallery
