Funeral Portraits
In the picture, the composition and light and shadow shape the form and weight of death, creating a solemn and heavy funeral atmosphere. The visual impact of a fish splitting its shape is magnified under a flat line of sight. This work is a reverence for life and a mourning for the dead. Referring the fish to an equal status with human beings, it expresses the care and respect for the natural world.

entry description
Confucian culture contains the funeral rite of being prudent in pursuing the end, and the spirit of "a death is as good as a survival" also reflects the respect for the unity of life and death. However, in the biological world, it seems that only the death of one's own kind is valued. I take fish portraits in the same way as I do people's last photographs, to create a kind of "confrontation" between life and death - when I look directly into the eyes of a fish, I feel as if I am mourning my own kind. This is a kind of equal dialog that transcends species and class, and creates a spiritual collision with the dead.In the picture, the composition and light and shadow shape the form and weight of death, creating a solemn and heavy funeral atmosphere.
