"I collect flowers to live"
The series with floral motifs "I collect flowers to live" I created in Amsterdam, where I am temporarily staying with my children due to the war in Ukraine. It arose from a love for Ukrainian Decorative Art (the "Petrikivskyi, Kyivskyi, and Yavorivskyi painting" served as a narrative for me) and admiration for the variety of flowers in the Netherlands. Ukrainian masters of Naïve Art often gave their works special explanatory names. Similarly, each of my photographs has its own title-explanation, its hidden meaning, which I wanted to convey through flowers. Creating and photographing flower has been keeping me inspired for a long time. There are more than 20 photos in this series. I even feel a therapeutic effect from this work. This series is about a beautiful world, love and affirmation of life.
For me, these floral still lifes are like a bridge with the current place of residence and the Motherland, they are my inspiration to live and create.
In a year of learning, I developed expertise and discovered a fascinating world of art photography. I was studying aesthetics and composition under the mentorship of a renowned Ukrainian photographer and art expert - Dimitri Bogachyk.
Photography for me is one of the ways of self-expression. It is full of freedom to express, create and inspire. It is as a way to capture a moment, embrace it with my vision and evoke deep emotions in the viewers and allow them to feel the harmony within the scene.
