The combination of the nostalgia that analog photography brings and her passion for the past takes you back in time. In recent years, Marieke has mainly focused on capturing a piece of history. Old cemeteries and buildings. She wants the viewer to wonder what happened. Wants to unravel the how, what, and why behind the photo and feel the melancholy. She has chosen a subject that is close to her heart and that should never be forgotten.

Marieke Berkelaar is a photographer and graphic designer from Leerdam, the Netherlands. As a little girl she walked around with a photo camera in her hands. The bookcases full of photo albums are proof of this. These albums tell you the most diverse stories. And you can still see that in her photos, she likes to start a dialogue.
