entry description
This was my first exploration of light painting photography. Blacking out my garage I created a studio that was devoid of any light whatsoever. Then I chose some of my large vases from my home as my subject matter as I thought it would be a good subject in regards to reflections in the glass. Setting my camera on a tripod I had put my settings for a 30 second exposure. In keeping with the quality of the image put it at the lowest ISO possible. The hardest and most thrilling part was having to do this all in the dark once I hit the shutter of my camera. Off camera I had a friend of mine do a countdown while I, dressed in black, would get behind the vases and use these specialized flashlights to create patterns with them. Once done, I would turn the flashlights off and exit the frame before the shutter closed. All this and not try to trip and break the vases as they were roughly two feet in height. I was very excited about this process as I was not a passive observer but actually physically engaged with the subject matter.back to gallery
