Dark Skies and Windmills
The title of the image is in recognition of the history of the windmill and to recognise it's symbolic importance to the community who have twice restored the windmill following nature's best attempts to cause irreparable damage.
I elected to process the image in a black and white style as it enabled me to portray the windmill having a defiant appearance as it faces the next approaching storm

entry description
Lytham Windmill is situated on Lytham Green in the coastal town of Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England and has stood for nearly 220 years. In 1919 the building was badly damaged by fire following a fierce storm and lay in a derelict condition until it was handed over to the local inhabitants who restored the building. Ironically just over 100 years later another severe storm caused significant damage in 2021 to 3 of the windmill's sails which had be be removed along with the undamaged sail and a complete set of new sails were manufactured and reinstalled to once again restore the windmill to its former glory. The title of the image is in recognition of the history of the windmill and to recognise it's symbolic importance to the community who have twice restored the windmill following nature's best attempts to cause irreparable damage.
