Peace Time
The sea arch had been a local natural feature for about a decade but a month after taking this photo, the sea arch was heavily damaged by hurricane Fiona and about a month after that it was destroyed by post tropical storm Nicole.
What remains of this beautiful arch is now a sea stack. Not quite as striking or unique but perhaps fitting since Fiona destroyed another local sea stack known as “Teacup rock ” at nearby Thunder Cove beach.
Even without large storms, our shorelines erode and change every year but watching these storms carve up rock formations feels surreal.

entry description
I took this photo on my first and only sunrise photo trip to capture the sea arch at MacKenzies Brook, in the Prince Edward Island National Park. I found the little stack of stones - which must have been organized by another visitor who had arrived before me since the last high tide (which would've surely knocked them over) - a testament to the popularity of this spot which is only accessible at low tide. The sea arch had been a local natural feature for about a decade but a month after taking this photo, the sea arch was heavily damaged by hurricane Fiona and about a month after that it was destroyed by post tropical storm Nicole.
