entry description
Artiface is a series of 22 x 30"archival ink on paper works that start out as studio photographs. During the computer processing stage, other elements are added. In the prints, Orchideen and Flora Arch, for example, the elements represent an artificial contrast to the real orchids and form a dialogue between the real and imaginary. In Meeresfauna, Birds and Rosesand Night Cereus, the 18th Century prints and photographs recently taken create an ominous contrast.about the photographer
Professor Emeritus of Art, Linda Guy recently moved to Florida, where she was raised. In Florida, a vivid contrasts exist both in Nature and Culture. Environmentally, the wild undeveloped parts of the interior state contrast with the developed resort coastlines. Culturally, there exists preferences for Disney-esque art along with that seen in international art fairs. Guy works with these dichotomies in her work.back to gallery
