Three of Life
“Three of Life” is part of an ongoing series and the result of several years of research on long exposure photography. The usage of ND filters was vital to find a perfect balance between the fading twilight and the brightness of the fireworks. The Brazilian savana called "Cerrado" was the scenery for these experimentations and home to the portrayed three, called “Cagaita”. Like a burst of life, it blossoms only during a couple of weeks per year, replacing all its leaves by white flowers when the dry season is coming to an end and the rains begin to fall again. Thus the use of fire, with cautions, to portray this landscape enhances the heat and dry aspects of the environment at this time of year in central Brazil.
Schietti has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Communication from the University of Brasilia. In 2011 he funded a photographic studio specialised in advertising photography in Brasilia, which continues to function through his fellow partners. Vitor studied cinema in Los Angeles and in São Paulo, and is often involved in video productions. He’s participated in several solo and collective exhibits in Brazil, Spain, Italy, USA, India, Japan and Russia. Schietti's series “Impermanent Sculptures” was awarded by the PDN 2016 Photo Annual in NYC and gained international recognition.

entry description
This image was achieved overlaying 12 pictures taken consecutively on location, 9 performing light paintings with fireworks in different parts of the three, with the assistance of a long rod, and 3 final ones firing a flash to illuminate the three as a whole. Nothing was created on photoshop apart from this process of overlaying images with the lighten blending mode and some contrast and color adjustments.“Three of Life” is part of an ongoing series and the result of several years of research on long exposure photography.
