Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis is a series of images created using an intricate combination of painting, sculptural and photographic techniques combined in-camera, without digital manipulation. It aims to depict metamorphosis in its subjects, their gestures, the mediums involved, and the process that’s used to create the image. An initial image is captured, translated into a transparent painting and a ceramic sculpture and ultimately transformed into a large format photograph. The subjects and gestures are coupled with metamorphic processes found in nature to reflect the metamorphosis in the human experience. Finally, the process and all of its emotional exertions and machinations enact a metamorphosis on the artist himself thus completing the circle and bringing the metamorphosis to the finished image for the viewer to experience directly.about the photographer
Jeff Klapperich is a Brooklyn photographer, who challenges the medium using a variety of approaches. His main interests are in film amd exposure manipulation. Jeff is also versed in a variety of other mediums, and uses his knowledge of drawing, sculpture and printmaking to help him achieve his results.back to gallery
